The Kingston Trio was a folk and pop music group that was formed in 1957 in San Francisco, California. The original members were Dave Guard, Bob Shane, and Nick Reynolds. The group became known for their close harmonies and their mixture of traditional folk songs and contemporary pop hits.
The Kingston Trio was one of the most popular and influential groups of the folk revival of the late 1950s and 1960s. They sold over 50 million records and had several hit singles, including "Tom Dooley," "Where Have All the Flowers Gone," and "Scotch and Soda."
The group continued to tour and record throughout the 1960s and 1970s, although the lineup changed several times. In 2004, the group was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame.
Today, the Kingston Trio is remembered as one of the pioneers of the folk music revival and as one of the most beloved and enduring acts of their era.
